After being in the hospital for pneumonia and sepsis, Wartburg, Tennessee, resident Wawana Brooks was weak and needed rehabilitation to get back to her normal lifestyle.

Brooks came to Life Care Center of Morgan County in Wartburg on Oct. 29, 2018. When she arrived, she needed help to transfer from one surface to another, such as from bed to a wheelchair or a wheelchair to a regular chair. She also needed assistance with balance, bathing and getting dressed and had difficulty swallowing.

Physical therapists helped her with her balance, gait and pain, while occupational therapists improved her self-care abilities. Speech therapists helped her with her swallowing skills.

“This is a wonderful place with caring staff,” said Brooks.

Brooks improved in all areas and returned home on Nov. 15.
