The residents had a delightful time. They placed second and third in the apron contest for the aprons they had made. They also placed second in the hat decorating contest.

On Aug. 30, 2016, Sheila Rowland, director of nursing at Life Care Center of Morgan County in Wartburg, won the Nurse of the Year Award during the Tennessee Health Care Association’s awards luncheon in Knoxville.

Rowland has been the DON at Life Care Center of Morgan County for 12 years and served the building for more than 20 years. She started her career as a certified nursing assistant and has been an LPN, a floor RN, a unit manager and a staff development coordinator.

Participants were dressed in Mardi Gras attire, from masks to beads to headpieces. Residents, assisted by associates, began the parade at the main dining room and circled the building.

Two weeks prior to the event, a ballot box was placed in the front lobby, and residents, family members, visitors and associates were invited to cast their vote for a Valentine’s Day 2016 King and Queen.

The dietary department kicked off the day with a luscious lunch of grilled steak, baked potatoes and tossed salad. Later in the afternoon, the activities department put on the anticipated annual crowning of the Valentine’s king and queen....

Residents at Life Care Center of Morgan County in Wartburg, Tennessee, enjoyed their second annual Mardi Gras party and parade around the building on Feb. 28, 2017.

Activities associates, along with MDS associates, made funnel cakes for Fat Tuesday, which delighted the residents. After the yummy snack, residents and associates lined the hallways in their bright Mardi Gras attire and proceeded around the building, making lots of noise.
